Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically made of Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) or Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA), between its two or more layers of glass. The glass layers are bonded to the interlayer(s) through a process of heat and pressure in an autoclave.
Triple Laminated Glass (or 3-ply laminated glass) is a high-performance variant consisting of three layers of glass and two interlayers. This structure significantly enhances its performance characteristics compared to standard double-ply laminated glass.
The two resilient interlayers act as sound-dampening cores, dramatically reducing noise transmission. Exceptionally effective at blocking low-frequency sounds like traffic and aircraft noise.
Extremely difficult to penetrate. Offers excellent resistance to forced entry and smash-and-grab attacks. Cracked shards remain adhered to the interlayer to prevent injury.
Immense strength and durability. Can withstand high wind loads and pressure differences, suitable for glass facades, floors, and high-rise balustrades.
PVB interlayers block over 99% of harmful ultraviolet radiation, protecting interior furnishings and fabrics from sun damage.
