PDLC Smart Glass Film Overview

Self-adhesive Smart Film applies to any existing or new smooth glass surface. A simple ON - OFF mode switches the PDLC film from being clear (transparent) to frosted (opaque). In its frosted state the film acts as an electronic blind providing privacy and security for any glass, window or partition. Pasting this dimming film on the window glass can actually hide privacy, heat insulation and other functions, and truly replace traditional curtains.

PDLC refers to mixing low-molecular liquid crystals with prepolymers and polymerizing under certain conditions to form micron-sized liquid crystal droplets uniformly dispersed in a polymer network. Custom shapes and sizes are available and multiple pieces can be joined together to create large switchable surfaces.

Working Principle

When the dimming film is powered off, the polymer liquid crystal material is disorderly arranged so that light cannot penetrate, creating a milky opaque state. When energized, the material arranges in an orderly manner under the electric field, allowing light to pass through for a transparent state.
